~ Search Engines ~

This search engine is a time saver because it combines searches from Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask all in one place. They have also added a "white pages" and "yellow pages" search, too, which might help in your "find a doctor" searches (also see that section below).  You can use the search box below.  After dogpile retrieves your search results, use your "back" button on your browser if you wish to return to my site.

~ Find A Doctor ~

Good overall portal for finding doctors and dentists throughout the USA by name, city/state and by specialty, hospitals in general and specialized hospitals and other health care facilities.

1.  The doctor list takes you to the American Medical Association (AMA) site and "DoctorFinder for Patients" page.  On the AMA site you can search by physician name & location, or specialty & location. (Note:  This site makes you go through 2 steps before getting to the actual search page.  First a "doctor finder usage verification" page where you have to enter the numbers you see in the image, and then you get to the "terms of use" page where you must click that you accept their terms.  Then you can get to the actual search page.)
2.  The specialist list links take you to individual specialty web pages.

Note:  Only doctors who are members of the AMA will be listed.  Only doctors who are members of their individual specialty organizations will be listed.  Therefore, not all doctors in the USA will be found on these lists.  If you don't find who you are looking for, use your browser's back button to come back here and check out other sites below.

This physician directory may include physicians who do not belong to the AMA, and so you may find more here.  But I was unable to find the source of their list, so I'm not sure how complete it is.   This site also includes some other useful things like "find a therapist" and "symptom checker" and "tests and procedures A-Z."

Phone book directory.  Put "physician" in the "what" search box and fill in the "where" and you should be able to find most physicians in the USA.  But again, possibly not 100% because not everyone has a listing in this directory.

Phone book directory for white and yellow pages information.  Just like the YellowBook above, put "physician" in the "what" search box and fill in the "where."  Again, DEX directories are not nation-wide (I think their site says published in 28 states), so it is unknown what percentage of doctors are in their database.

~ Medications, Herbs, Vitamins, Cosmetics Search Sites ~

A good up-to-date site for medication education with a search for medications A to Z, indications for use and route of administration, common side effects and adverse reactions.  In addition there is current drug news and alerts, a list of major side effects and which drugs commonly have this side effect, and drugs listed by type.  Also updates on clinical drug trials.  This site is an excellent substitute if you don't have a PDR

A commercial site but good all around site for searching for prescription drug names, drug indications, drug dosage.   Also useful for finding nonprescription drug names and cosmetic brand names.

As the site above, this one serves as a good substitute a PDR when it comes to finding the different dosages available for a particular drug, and this is what I often use this site for.

~ Laboratory Tests ~

Go down the page until you see "specific conditions" and you can click on things like basic blood tests, blood culture,  BMP, complete blood count,  comprehensive metabolic panel, electrolytes test, stool tests, urine tests.  Use your browser's "back" button if you wish to return to my site.
